Utility Co. supplies natural gas and electricity to over a million residential and business customers nationally, has a significant portfolio of industrial and commercial customers and a major portfolio of energy assets. Utility Co. identified the opportunity to realise operational efficiencies through stringent management of information assets.

The objective was to improve the way Utility Co. manages and utilises information across the organisation. Better management of information, an increase in the quality of the information, and improved utilisation of information had potential to release major operational efficiencies. Utility Co. thus sought a robust information governance framework.

EA assessed the specific operational needs of Utility Co. and delivered a tailored information governance framework to support the effective utilisation and lifecycle management of information.  The governance framework provided, but was not limited to, the roles and responsibilities, supporting processes and artefacts required to effectively manage information across the organisation.

Utility Co. established robust information management disciplines, ensuring:

• Utilisation of correct information sources for given needs.
• Reduced duplication and redundancy of information.
• Improved currency of information for critical needs.
