This large multi-national manufacturing company manufactures and distributes children’s toys and related products globally. They were about to embark on a major transformation programme, primarily focused on a new ERP implementation and wanted to adopt an architecture framework that would enable them to deliver enterprise architecture, rather than just technical architecture to support this.

The objective of the engagement was to provide the IT team with foundational TOGAF® 9 training to enable them to move towards a more strategic enterprise architecture capability. They wanted to move away from a traditional technical and IT-led architectural approach to create an architecture function that would help them align their business and IT strategies.

Prior to the delivery of training, Enterprise Architects spent two days on site with the client in order to understand the client’s existing practices and architecture landscape. Enterprise Architects then delivered multiple TOGAF® 9 Foundation training courses to groups of their architects, customised to focus on the aspects of TOGAF® that were most relevant to the client’s objectives.

The client concluded the training program with a sound view of how they would utilise TOGAF® 9 to help improve architecture maturity and establish a basis for creating a common ontology and framework for delivering architecture.
