How Enterprise Architecture And Project Execution Are Linked

What is Enterprise Architecture?

Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a discipline for proactively defining a conceptual blueprint to enable businesses to respond to disruptive forces. The objective of EA is to ascertain, analyse and categorise, the scope of work, to shift an organisation from current state toward a desired business vision and outcome.

What is Project Management?

Project Management (PM) is the discipline of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing, temporary and finite activities, to achieve specific goals and change which benefit the organisation.

ANNOUNCEMENT – EA Learning Launches New Design Thinking Course

EA Learning is delighted to announce the launch of a new course created by Craig Martin and Helen Palmer through Craig’s new business Design Chain. Design in Business will provide a relevant, practical, and highly insightful learning experience for Architects and other analytical professionals into the discipline of Design Thinking.

The Design in Business course pulls together the disciplines of Architecture, Agile and Design into a coherent approach to problem solving. Applying the Human-centred approaches has the potential to add significant value to traditional Architectural approaches by ensuring Solutions effectively meet customer needs.

Our inaugural course was conducted in Melbourne, and now that our group of newly certified attendees has left us we’ve taken a moment to stop and reflect on where the real impacts of this certification will land.

Designing the Business of IT … but will it add value to my business?

As awareness and interest in the Open Group’s new IT4IT Reference Architecture continues to gather pace in online communities, blogs and industry events, one over-arching question remains; what is the business value of this new approach? Quantifying the value of Enterprise Architecture has been a subject that has been discussed long and hard since the advent of online communities such as LinkedIn over the years. I foresee similar discussion threads emerging around IT4IT, along with questions about its place alongside other reference models and frameworks, e.g. “Is IT4IT in competition with, or a complement to, ITIL and DevOps?”

After reading through various sources[1] I noticed some common themes being asked by CIOs in 2016, this article takes a look at 5 of the most common issues and how IT4IT might support the resolution of these challenges.
